Synopsis
Le héros de l'histoire se nomme Ryoma Echizen, un japonais qui a vécu de nombreuses années aux États-Unis. Son père, Nanjiro Echizen, connu comme étant le « Samurai », est devenu un grand champion de tennis internationalement reconnu. L'histoire commence alors que Ryoma arrive au Japon et décide de s'inscrire au collège Seishun Gakuen, connu également sous le nom de Seigaku, qui possède une équipe de tennis très compétente.
