Trama
Il Colonnello Terry Childers, ufficiale pluridecorato delle forze armate degli Stati Uniti, è stato messo sotto processo per una missione di soccorso finita in tragedia. Per avvocato ha scelto il Colonnello Hays Hodges, un compagno a cui ha salvato la vita trent'anni prima. Come avvocato Hodges non è il migliore sulla piazza ma Childers ha fiducia in lui mentre Hodges comincia ad avere qualche dubbio sull'uomo che gli ha salvato la vita.
