Trama
Il professor Hyakken Uchida (Tatsuo Matsumura) nel 1943 decide di abbandonare l'insegnamento per dedicarsi alla carriera di scrittore. La storia è scandita dalle feste di compleanno con cui gli ex allievi celebrano il professore dal 1943 ai primi anni '70 domandandogli ogni volta se sia pronto ad andarsene. Il professore risponde sempre: "Madadayo!" (Non ancora!).
