Trama
Bernice 'Bernie' Rhodenbarr è una ladra di mestiere e gestisce anche una libreria. Il suo amico Carl Hefler è un toelettatore di cani. Dopo un furto riuscito, si scopre che un cadavere era nella casa che aveva svaligiato. Poiché è l'unica che può essere collocata sulla scena del crimine, deve usare le sue abilità criminali per riabilitare il suo nome dall'omicidio ED evitare di essere accusata di furto con scasso.
