概要
ノルマンディーの美しい村でパン屋を営むマルタン。毎日の単調な生活の中で文学だけが想像の友、愛読書は「ボヴァリー夫人」。ある日、向かいに英国人のチャーリーとジェマ・ボヴァリー夫妻が越してくる。自分の作ったパンを官能的に頬張るジェマに魅了されたマルタンは、ジェマが年下の男と不倫するのを目撃。このままでは彼女が“ボヴァリー夫人と同じ運命を辿るのでは？”と、小説と現実が入り交じった妄想が膨らんでいき・・・。
