De 32-jarige Christine zit al bijna haar hele leven in een rolstoel. Om uit haar isolement te komen maakt ze, hoewel ze niet bijzonder vroom is, een pelgrimstocht naar Lourdes. Zoals zovele chronisch zieken en gehandicapten gaat ze op bedevaart, maar als Christine op een ochtend ook echt door een wonder lijkt te zijn genezen, ontstaat afgunst in de groep.
