Overzicht
De oceanograaf Steve Zissou heeft z'n beste tijd wel gehad. Wanneer zijn partner tijdens het filmen gedood wordt door een jaguarhaai, stelt Zissou een crew samen om wraak te nemen op het mysterieuze beest. Onder de crew bevinden zich onder anderen zijn van hem vervreemde vrouw, een journaliste die een stuk over hem wil schrijven en een man van wie hij wel eens de biologische vader zou kunnen zijn.
