Oscar, malá utáraná rybka, má ambíciu pohybovať sa v najvyšších spoločenských vrstvách. Lennymu, veľkému bielemu žralokovi, spôsobila citlivá povaha životný problém, ktorý drží vo veľkej tajnosti: je totiž vegetarián. Keď pravda vyjde najavo, stane sa Oscar následkom veľkej lži pochybným hrdinom. Napriek tomu sa práve vtedy Oscar a Lenny stanú dobrými priateľmi. Chvíle pohody však dlho nevydržia.
