Filmen är en collagefilm initierad, samregisserad och producerad av Cristian Mungiu, utforskar fem vandringssägner från den tiden – ironiskt kallad “de gyllene åren” – som alla vittnar om människors överlevnadsförmåga. Varje episod har sin speciella ton, från humorösa scener till svart humor präglad av melankoli.
